Why the “E” in PULSE stands for ECHO
We want to both experience and give voice to God’s story. The word “echo” reflects the idea that giving voice to God’s story requires both an input and an output. Recognizing God’s work in our lives and seeing how the gospel applies to our world are the input; speaking those truths to the people around us are the output. As I experience God’s story in my own life, I become aware of how God is at work and how the gospel applies and connects to my experiences. I share authentically about how God’s story intersects my own, like an echo, so that others can see and experience how God wants to give them life too. We echo God’s story to others because he is pouring his life into us first.
Prayer in Scripture
In the Old Testament, Israel was often called and commanded to share their experience of God’s goodness with others. Jesus came to point people to God and to live out the story of salvation before them; he calls us to join him in this mission in the power of the Spirit. Throughout the rest of the New Testament, our role as those who experience and tell God’s story to the world is made clear.
