Being in union with God doesn’t always mean feeling close to him, but reflecting on our experiences of feeling near to him can sometimes help us understand our own best ways of connecting with him.
Reflection
Think of a time when you felt close to God. What was the situation? Imagine yourself there again, remembering all the details: where you were, what was happening, who was there, what you felt, etc.
What about that situation do you think helped you feel near to God? What were the key aspects that you remember?
What are some truths about God or characteristics of God that were important in that moment or that connect to it now?
What’s something you could take away from that experience that you can apply to your time with God this week?
Discussion
We all connect with God in different ways, but we connect to him in similar ways too. Hearing from each other might help remind us of other ways to spend time with God this week.
What came to mind for you during the reflection time? How could you bring this to the forefront of your week?
