Most people value being heard and want to be good listeners themselves. But for all of us, there are times when we are not really listening, and waiting more for our turn to talk. Sometimes we notice that this is happening, and sometimes we don’t even realize we’re doing it.
Take a moment to reflect on your tendencies in this regard. Ask the Spirit to show you if there is sin you need to repent of. Pray and bring this before the Lord. Ask him to bring any lack of listening to your awareness in the moment from now on. Ask him for curiosity and care for the people around you, which would help you listen well.
Ask: Is there anything that you want to share with the group from your time of reflection? Are there ways that we can help you grow in this area when we’re together?
Even as we move on from this conversation, let’s have what we’ve discussed in mind and try to listen well to one another today, noticing when we aren’t and turning our attention back to each other as needed.
Have one person pray for listening hearts.
