The "Equipped" Series (Made by P2C-S)

by P2C-Students

In our increasingly postmodern world, discipling students requires connecting not only with their intellect, but with their whole being. The Equipped Series: Loving and Serving Jesus for a Lifetime provides a small group experience to take you deeper in loving and serving Jesus.

Some common questions about our Equipped Series:

What are the desired outcomes?

Equipped studies have been designed to:

  • engage both the head and the heart

  • help develop a holistic understanding of each topic

  • support confidence in theological understanding

  • provide opportunities to think critically

  • promote confidence in sharing one’s faith and story

How are the studies structured?

Each book is broken into 4 lessons, which take about an hour to an hour and a half to work through. A weekly campus group could reasonably do two books per semester and still have a few free weeks for other activities.

Every lesson includes an introductory activity, as well as opportunities for introspection and outward action. The books cover foundational aspects of faith that are core learning objectives for students involved in Power to Change. These books can stand alone or be studied in any order.

What resources are available for leaders?

In addition to the booklets, there are leader’s guides with instructions on leading the group.

What if students come from difference backgrounds and have different levels of knowledge?

We recognize that students will be coming from different contexts. The Equipped series provides a consistent theology in a systematic way with a series of lessons that brings all students to the same theological baseline, while still challenging more knowledgeable students to think about the topic in new ways.

Let Pat and Suz explain the vision for these resources:

1. Foundation

On any building project, starting with a properly laid foundation is critical for success in achieving a structurally sound building. This four-week study looks at the essential aspects upon which a gospel-centred life is built: application of the gospel to your life, assurance of your relationship with God, dealing with sin through confession, and the authority of Scripture.

2. My Story

My Story is a small group training series that will invigorate your evangelism through the powerful intersection of social media, your personal story and the gospel. This video training series will walk you from start to finish, launching you to reach your world. Lessons include:

  1. Gospel – The gospel is both the content of our story and our motivation for sharing it.

  2. Crave – Everybody, no matter who they are, craves the same things in life: intimacy, destiny, meaning. These can steer us off course in life if we look to satisfy them in wrong places, but ultimately they are meant to point us to God.

  3. Idolatry – All of our stories reflect this truth: looking to anything other than Jesus for ultimate meaning leaves us unsatisfied and empty.

  4. Story I – Every single Christian comes pre-equipped with the best tool you could ever have to help someone discover Jesus: your story.

  5. Story II – Using his story, Paul builds rapport with his audience and demonstrates life change.

  6. Launch – With the joy that is in our lives because Jesus has saved us, we can share our stories with confidence.

  7. Now What – Evangelism isn’t simply an event, it’s a process. An evangelist must be patient, take initiative, and pray.

3. Intersection

What does it mean to live out the gospel message? This four-week study looks at what it means to share God’s heart for the world, how our perspective affects the way we live, our calling to make Jesus known, and what it means to take initiative with our faith.

Journey is a four week study on the Holy Spirit. These four lessons help you understand who the Holy Spirit is, how it can be good news to have him and not Jesus, and what difference the Holy Spirit makes in our lives. As we unpack these topics, we seek to help you experience walking with the Holy Spirit in a deeper way.

6. Together

Together is a four-week study on discipleship. In these four lessons, we’ll look at Jesus’ pattern for discipleship and why it’s still so effective today. 7. Contextualize

Nothing on this planet is untouched by culture, including how we view Jesus and the gospel. How you interpret, understand, and explain the gospel might be very different than how someone from a different culture does. In this four-week study, we will look into the book of Acts for examples of how to effectively contextualize the gospel for others. We will also learn how to better recognize our own cultural context as we seek to more effectively contextualize the gospel for ourselves.

8. Rooted

It is tempting to search for silver-bullet solutions or formulas that will help us really feel transformed. However, this change doesn’t come from new methods or formulas or five-step plans. It happens when the truths of the gospel penetrate the deepest recesses of our souls. This four-week study is designed to help you root yourself deeper in the gospel.
